Hello everybody,

Reporting back to you all after another great day at the OTC.  Today was a day filled with not only a lot of wrestling and training but memorable stories as well.  Our day began at 8 am with a hard 40 minute drill.  Once again, altitude seemed to be a huge factor, but I guess it's expected to not be fully acclimated within the first 48 hours.  Shortly after the drill the world team split up to do some swimming exercises while the college guys broke off into our own clique to complete a circuit lift in the Olympic Training Weight room.  I don't know what it is but something about this place just seems to bring out the best in your performance (most likely the thought that CWC wasn't spending so much money to send us out here on vacation).  After completing the lift with a few UPENN and Nebraska wrestlers our physical training part of the day was complete.  Next up, film, we watched the European Championships with the world team and coach Zeke Jones as he broke down the film.  The most notable and memorable piece of knowledge I was left with, was the ratio of offensive attacks the Europeans took compared to the Americans.  Where Americans average somewhere around 5 maybe 6 legitimate offensive attacks per match, Europeans average around 16 or 17! That's three times more offensive attacks then Americans.  This somewhat amazing statistic quantified the age old saying of wrestling, "you've got to shoot to score."
On another note after the film session completed we ventured off with some UPENN guys to check out the popular tourist spot, "Garden of the Gods," in which we witnessed massive rocks where we climbed while being very aware of the massive rattlesnake population.  The views and hike were simply magnificent, I suggest it to anyone whoever visits the Colorado Springs area.  After our rock climbing excursion, we found our way back to a local wrestlers house who currently is a wrestler for UPENN where we enjoyed an excellent home cooked meal.  Unfortunately, after leaving I witnessed one of my heroes, Forrest Griffin, absolutely annihilated by Anderson Silva at UFC 101.  Well better luck next time Forrest hopefully I'll have better luck at practice tomorrow.  Speaking of practice tomorrow it's time to hit the sack.  I will be reporting back tomorrow night, until then once again take care.
