Rules
1) Be on time. Practice will get underway on time. The high school or
college team (depending on if you're at UVA or AHS) may be finishing up when we
get there. Please stay out of the way and get your gear on until they are finished.
2) Bring your wrestling shoes with you to practice (don’t use them anywhere
else except on a wrestling mat) and put them on when you get there. It’s
important to keep the mats as clean as possible because of skin infections
that can be common in our sport.
3) Be respectful of coaches and do not talk or goof around when coaches are
running practice and especially when they are showing technique.
4) Horseplay will not be tolerated! If there are multiple violations, you will not
be invited back to the next practice.
5) Be ready to learn and work hard when you get to practice. Those who
work hard and are there to improve will get more attention from the
coaching staff and will improve at a faster rate.
6) If school is closed for inclimate weather, there will be no practice at
Albemarle. If the weather improves we may schedule practice at UVA.
7) Bathe or shower after every practice, wash your kneepads, and do not
come to practice sick. Being that wrestling is a contact sport, bacteria &
virus spread very easily from person to person. Do your part to make sure
everyone remains healthy.
8) Wrestlers should not go out of the building during, or at the end of practice
without a parent. It is a liability and will not be tolerated.
9) We are very fortunate to have Albemarle ’s and UVA’s Wrestling rooms to
use so make sure you do your part to keep the room looking as good, if
not better than when you stepped in the door.
10) It is very difficult to run technique sessions when parents are talking. We
ask that you refrain from talking while the coach is showing technique so
that everyone can hear and the coach doesn’t lose his voice. Thanks!
